Frequently Asked Questions

Expert advice for growing and caring for your David Austin roses.

When is the best time to plant my roses?

Bare root roses should be planted in late autumn to early spring while they are dormant. Potted roses can be planted at any time of year, provided the ground is not frozen or waterlogged.

What is your 5-year guarantee?

We take pride in the quality of our roses. If any rose fails to grow or dies within five years of purchase, we will replace it free of charge, provided it has been planted and cared for correctly.

How do I care for my roses during the winter?

In colder climates, we recommend applying a thick layer of mulch around the base of the plant and prune lightly to prevent wind-rock. Hard pruning should wait until the plant is dormant in late winter.

What are the shipping costs and delivery times?

Shipping costs vary by region and order size. Bare root roses are shipped seasonally during the dormant period, while potted roses are shipped year-round. You will receive a tracking number once your order leaves our nursery.

Can I grow David Austin roses in pots or containers?

Yes, many of our varieties are well-suited for large containers. We recommend choosing a pot at least 18 inches deep and using a high-quality loam-based compost to ensure the plant has enough nutrients.

How often should I water and feed my roses?

Newly planted roses require frequent watering until established. Once mature, they should be watered deeply at the base once a week. We recommend feeding twice a year with specialized rose food in early spring and mid-summer.
